Los Angeles-Long Beach-Glendale Apartment Permits Surge
Los Angeles-Long Beach-Glendale recorded 17.9K multifamily permits in the year through Late-Q3, ranking second nationally and signaling strong apartment development activity across the metro.
That metro total was ↑>100% yearly, showing permitting accelerated sharply versus a year earlier even as national apartment growth patterns remained uneven.
At the local level, Los Angeles posted 13.6K multifamily permits, leading all cities and areas and showing where much of the metro's supply pipeline landed.
This concentration suggests projects kept moving where dense employment, transit access, redevelopment opportunities and established housing demand supported multifamily feasibility inside the metro.
For developers and lenders, that pipeline meant planning for builders risk first, then liability, flood and permanent property coverage as apartments moved toward delivery. -

Why Builders Are Selling More Homes Under $400,000 in 2026
In July 2026, 53% of new single-family homes sold in the U.S. were priced under $400,000, up from 50% a year earlier, with the median price at $393,800 and the average at $508,800.
